Maurice Hawkins is leading the poker arena these days. He won another gold ring (third) at World Series of poker circuit Harrah’s Cherokee and collected $279,722 as winning prize.
Hawkins is the only player who has won three back to back gold rings in the history of WSOP Harrah’s Cherokee. Hawkins made $431,561 in the month of April and moved up to a tie for fifth in all time gold ring winners as well.
“I am all about trying to put out my best performance and doing the best I can do,” said Hawkins.
The tournament attracted 1,008 players from the entire world but it was Hawkins who did great at the final table and collected the first prize along with a gold ring.
The first elimination from the final table was of Hamid Izadi who made $24,579 and finished his journey to ninth position. The next elimination was of marty DeBruhl and he collected $34,625 being at eighth place. Then goes Corey Bierria for seventh for a total wining share of amount $43,984.
Sixth, fifth and third positions of the Harrah’s main event were for Brannon Cashion($56,519), Randy Lowery – $73,468 and Karthik Ramakrishnan – $96,617.
Meanwhile Chip Ervin hit the rail to third position and took home $128,520 as winning share. The final or heads up round was played among Leif Force and Maurice Hawkins.
Leif was playing well when Ervin got out to third place but he was not lucky enough to beat Hawkins. Leif Force becomes the second position holder and got $172,943 as winning share, whereas Maurice Hawkins collected $279,722 and a world series of poker gold ring by winning the main event championship.
Hawkins already got his seat booked for 2016 Global casino Championship by winning the prestigious Council Bluffs Main event this month.
